Maine County Animal Response Team Contacts

For the past year, SMART has been working to facilitate the development of County Animal Response Teams to support a statewide emergency partnership for animals. County Animal Response Teams are organized groups made up of local networks of government, not-for-profit organizations, businesses, livestock producers, veterinarians and individual volunteers.

Teams work with Emergency Managers to plan for animal disasters and train for emergency response. Team members interested in being included in animal disaster response will need to be certified in CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) through the local Emergency Management Office. There is an immediate need for volunteers interested in animal emergency preparedness to join established teams or start teams in your county.
